This is how my garden looked in may 2009. Last spring. Dalmatian and florentine Irises, alliums and other spring performers were at their top. This spring I waiting for a far better show as I have added some more decorative alliums to the composition and dozens of red and white tulips. LAst November I have also moved and dividedĀ the red paeonies. I am counting on their contribution to the show.

Dear Andrea, How lovely your garden will look within a couple of months. I do love all those soft, dreamy colours which are particularly effective against the colour of the house wall.

Dear Andrea, Thank you for your message on Blotanical and for the extensive reply to my comment on your previous post. I was delighted that you know of David Hicks and Beth Chatto, and I am sure that we would have a great many more icons of the gardening world who we would admire in common.
If I had to choose, then I suspect that Italian gardens generally would be my favourite style as I love the formal, classical lines and extensive use of a ‘green’ structure.
I am subscribing to your weblog in order that I do not miss any of your future postings.

Beautiful photos! I think the red peonies will be a perfect addition to these blues, purples and periwinkle blue colors. I’ll be looking forward to seeing it.

thank you! You think right! As a matter of fact in the planting there were some red peonies but last year they did not flower at all.
This year I divided them, mulched them and so on. I hope in a better performance this incoming spring!
